Some big news just in about the electric band line-up for both the Canadian dates in October and the UK dates in November.
Neither Rod Coombes nor Oliver Wakeman are available for these tours - Rod has educational commitments, and Oliver is committed to recording a new Yes album in the States I October/November.
On drums, we welcome the return of a familiar face to many longtime Strawbs fans - Tony Fernandez, who played on Deadlines and Heartbreak Hill, the latter an album which Cousins considers one of their best. After 34 years in Rick Wakeman's band, Tony was reunited with the Heartbreak Hill and Blue Angel line-ups at the 40th anniversary weekend. His enthusiasm for playing Strawbs material again was both obvious and infectious. It'll be a great pleasure to see him behind the drumkit again.
On keyboards, we welcome a new face - John Young, who has supported the Strawbs in the past at Bilston. As well as running his own John Young Band, he writes with Jon Anderson, is MD for Bonnie Tyler, has played in Quango alongside John Wetton and Carl Palmer and in Greenslade amongst other credits.
Check out his Myspace at:
Whilst we will of course miss Rod and Oliver, we look forward to seeing Tony's return and John's debut with the Strawbs.
The September tour of the USA is the Acoustic Strawbs line-up: Dave Cousins/Dave Lambert/Chas Cronk.
"You'll scarcely believe all the pleasures inside..."
