Hi all

Some live reminders/updates this month, a lot of new improved stuff on the website on Hudson Ford and news of a Hudson Ford 3CD box set.

* new album
* Electric Strawbs - 2 dates in 2016
* Acoustic Strawbs gigs 2017
* Hudson Ford box set
* Hud gigs
* Craig and Willoughby gigs
* Updates on Strawbsweb

No news as yet on arrangements for pre-ordering, or release date for the new album Live In Gettysburg. Dave is up to his eyeballs in packing cases after moving to new premises and we still need to sort out arrangements after the demise of Witchwood Records. Likely now to be released in the new year. I'll let you know more as soon as I can.

An opportunity to catch the new electric line-up on two occasions before the end of 2016:

Thu 1 Dec - Cheese & Grain, Frome
Sat 3 Dec - Vintage TV Festival, Butlins, Bognor Regis

News of some confirmed gigs for next year:

Thu 16 March - The Pier, Worthing
Sat 18 March - HRH Festival, Pwllheli
Wed 22 March - Robin 2, Bilston
Fri 24 March - Astor Theatre, Deal

Other dates are pencilled in for 20 Mar (Grantham), 25 Mar (Hailsham) - if the latter comes off, that is a perfect opportunity to celebrate the life of longtime Strawbs fan (and a good friend of mine) Paul Brazier who died last month.

For a long time we have been waiting for Hudson Ford, an important part of the Strawbs story, to be released on CD. There have been some bootlegs, some Japanese card sleeve releases, but now there are firm plans for a proper boxed set release of the three A&M records, with bonus tracks, released by Caroline International. As well as the three albums, the boxed set will include non-album single B-sides and other unreleased tracks (such as "When The Lights Go Out" which was only ever on the Repertoire sampler). I'm involved with the release and am writing some sleeve notes. The release date is expectedto beFeb/Mar next year.

I've been pointing towards their new website (which I'm no longer involved in) that I missed their recent show just down the road from where I live! Pants! So here are their gigs till end Jan 2017. Check out for more info and updates.

Prompted by the news of the Hudson Ford box set, I've improved coverage of HF albums and singles on Strawbsweb. As I said above, I regard HF as a crucial part of the Strawbs story - A&M labelmates and the propagation of their music to other juridsdictions informs us about the Strawbs own releases. Who knew that a Hudson Ford single made it out in Angola!

The Hudson Ford section has been completely revamped with more and improved scans and coverage of non UK releases. Sadly my bank balance has reduced significantly owing to excessive use of Ebay and Discogs to buy obscure releases - please send money!! (only joking! - I think ....)
