STRAWBSWEBNEWS - MARCH 2007
Sent: 7 Mar 2007
The UK Electric tour in February was fantastic - some of the shows were the
best I've ever seen that line-up play - which bodes well for their trip to
Canada/the US in the Summer and their UK reprise in August at Cropredy and
the associated warm-up gigs.
This Strawbswebnews is a mixture of live dates news, mainly relating to
tours/dates later in the year including the announcement that Strawbs will
appear at the Montreal FMPM Festival in September - Gold tickets on sale
for this at the end of this week.
Also one new release/one re-issue coming in April.

KEN LAWS - 1951-2007
====================
As noted in the recent Stop Press, we were very sad indeed to hear of the
death of Ken Laws, Hudson Ford drummer, a consummate musician and all-round
splendid fellow. He died in Atlanta, where he has lived for the last few
years with his wife Maryanne. He would have been 56 on 30th March. He was
diagnosed a little while ago with an inoperable brain tumour and, in early
March was admitted to a hospice, but died a few days later.
For more about Ken, see the obituary by Lindsay Sorrell on Strawbsweb.

TOUCH THE EARTH - LAMBERT CRONK
===============================
When Strawbs broke up in 1980, Dave Lambert & Chas Cronk decided to form
Lambert Cronk, alongside latter-day Strawbs, Andy Richards and Tony
Fernandez. However, as fate would have it, Trevor Horn invited Andy
Richards to become the keyboard sound of Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Chas
Cronk was invited to join the Steve Hackett Band where he met Nick Magnus,
and Tony Fernandez went on a world tour with Rick Wakeman. In the end, an
album's worth of Lambert Cronk material was recorded but, as punk had
become the raging flavour of the day, it remained on the shelf.
Unearthed during the search for material for the recent boxed set (on which
the title track was included as a "taste"), the Lambert Cronk material has
been digitally remastered as 'Touch The Earth'. The musicianship is
impeccable with Dave Lambert's vocals and guitar to the forefront,
surrounded by the swirling, masterly keyboards of Andy Richards and Nick
Magnus, and with the rhythm section of Chas Cronk, Tony Fernandez and Ian
Mosely providing rock solid propulsion.
Release date 7 April

Every Step of the Way
