STRAWBSWEBNEWS - APRIL 2007

Sent: 24 Apr 2007

Hi folks, two big pieces of news this month, news of the Rick
Wakeman/Acoustic Strawbs get together, to be broadcast 28 April, and news
of Dave's impending solo album, due out in June.

Also - note the Benedictus tribute band concert in Taunton on 28 April.
I'm planning to be there.

I'm expecting some additional Blue Angel Orchestra gigs later in the year
to promote the solo album, and possibly a Dave Cousins/Ian Cutler gig in
Chatham - more details on these when we have them; also no date confirmed
yet for the proposed Fire reunion, likely to be November some time.

Cheers

DICK

RICK WAKEMAN & ACOUSTIC STRAWBS - ON AIR 5TH MAY
==================================================

On Friday 20 April, Rick Wakeman recorded the first of the live sessions
for his Saturday morning radio show on Planet Rock, with the Acoustic
Strawbs at Shepperton Studios in West London. Performing before an
audience of ticket winners from Rick's show and a few invited guests, Rick
joined the band for four numbers and interviewed the band members between
songs. It was an amazing evening, the first time Rick has played with the
Strawbs since 1971 (though both Daves and Chas did play on a track from
"Six Wives" and on a session for the Old Grey Whistle Test which included
that track.

There are reviews and pictures from the show on Strawbsweb -
http://tinyurl.com/37yaqt.

The show will be aired this Sat 5th May (Rick's show is at 10.00am, UK time).

NEW DAVE COUSINS SOLO ALBUM - THE BOY IN THE SAILOR SUIT
========================================================

Delighted to announce that Dave is in the studio this week to record his
second solo album. Miller Anderson, who played guitar on the first, Two
Weeks Last Summer, back in 1972, is on hand again, as are the rest of the
Blue Angel Orchestra - Ian Cutler (fiddle), Chas Cronk (bass) and Chris
Hunt (drums).

Dave has written a whole bunch of new songs, track listing below, and from
our chat in the pub after the Wakeman show, he is very excited indeed about
the album.

Expected to be available as early as June 2007.

Promotional gigs are being lined up for the autumn featuring the musicians
on the album. Watch for further news.

Track listing, running order not fixed:
Never Take Sweets From A Stranger
Mellow Moon
Bringing In The Harvest
Mother Luck
The Smile You Left Behind
Calling Out Your Name
Skip To My Lou
Lonely Days, Lonely Nights
Hell Fire Blues
Wish You Were Here

==================================================
LAMBERT CRONK - TOUCH THE EARTH, RELEASED 16 APRIL
==================================================

Unearthed during the search for material for the recent boxed set (on which
the title track was included as a "taste"), the material recorded by
Lambert & Cronk in the 80s has been digitally remastered as 'Touch The
Earth', with a track of more recent vintage from each for good measure.
The musicianship is impeccable with Dave Lambert's vocals and guitar to the
forefront, surrounded by the swirling, masterly keyboards of Andy Richards
and Nick Magnus, and with the rhythm section of Chas Cronk, Tony Fernandez
and Ian Mosely providing rock solid propulsion.
